Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – Fueled by a couple of late-inning surges, the Chatham University softball team swept visiting Medaille College on Tuesday.  Chatham won by scores of 5-2 and 6-3.
 
Chatham moves to 5-4 and has won five of their past six games.  Medaille falls to 4-6 overall.
 
 A Jenn Stefano triple in the bottom of the first, scoring Erika Martin, gave Chatham an early lead in the opener.  Stefano would later score on a Medaille error to make it 2-0.
 
The Mavericks scored twice in the fifth inning to tie the score at two.  In the home half of the fifth, though, Chatham capitalized on two Medaille errors, each coming with two outs.  Stefano drove in Jessica Milroy and Elizabeth Doman with a triple, and she later scored on an Ashley Lamb RBI.
 
Stefano went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.  Doman, Martin, and Milroy each had one hit and one run scored.  On the mound, Leigha Pehrson threw all seven innings, allowing ten hits and striking out seven.
 
Medaille jumped out to an early 3-0 in the first inning of game two.  In the home half of the third, Elizabeth Deckelman drove in two with a deep single, and Lamb tied the score at three with an RBI single.  Doman then broke the game open in the fifth inning with a bases clearing double.
 
Pehrson again went the distance on the mound, striking out two.  Deckelman went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.  Lamb went 2-3, while Anne Marie Brnardic, Kelley Connell, and Stefano each had a hit and a run scored.
 
Chatham returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Thursday, April 3, when they host Westminster College at 3:00pm.
