PITTSBURGH, PA - Today was the final time the Chatham Softball team (15-25, 9-13 PAC) would step onto the field for the 2026 season in their Senior Day doubleheader against the Thiel Tomcats (13-23, 5-17 PAC). Game one would prove to be a game of back and forth between the two teams, but in the end the Cougars would fall 15-11. Game two would prove to be the complete opposite as the Cougars wanted to end the season on a high note with a 4-0 win.
Game one would be quiet with no action for the first two innings. In the third inning though, the Tomcats would take the advantage and score seven runs to give them a large lead. Down 7-0, the Cougars weren't ready to back down yet as in the bottom of the third freshman
Madi Gorney singled to center field earning herself an RBI bringing in fellow freshman
Gaby McTavish. Thiel would answer in the fourth with 3 more runs, making the score 10-1. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Cougars would start swinging the bats hard as they added 10 runs, and took the lead heading into the seventh. Senior
Olivia Harris would earn an RBI with a single bringing home sophomore
Anna Borst. Sophomore
Josie Underdonk would score, followed by a double by senior
Victoria Murren who earned two RBIs when fellow senior
Kayleen Garcia and Gorney crossed home plate. McTavish had a double of her own earning two RBIs with Underdonk and Borst scoring again, Garcia would single getting an RBI by another McTavish run, Gorney would score on a wild pitch, freshman
Chloe Pagliarini would score with another Murren double, and freshman
Allison Livelsberger would finish the scoring from a senior
Chelsea Stabile single. The Tomcats would answer in the seventh and take the lead back and win when they added five more runs.
In the circle would be a variety of Cougars for the first game. Murren would start and only pitch 2.1 innings before fellow senior
Sheaden Berkson would take over for 1.1 innings, striking out one batter. Underdonk would then step in for 2.2 innings and strike out four batters before freshman
Caytlin Redeye would finish things off for 0.2 of an inning.
Game two would be a completely opposite story for the Cougars as they secured the win and set a new team single season wins record of 15! It wouldn't take long for the Cougars to get on the board as McTavish scored the first run on a fielder's choice. Things would then be quiet for the next few innings as the next Cougars run didn't come until the fifth inning. McTavish would single allowing sophomore
Kyla Milne to score a run, followed by McTavish scoring off a sacrifice from Gorney. Already up 3-0, senior
Cloe Lopez wanted to end her career with a single and RBI as Livelsberger came across home plate once again.
In the circle for the win would be sophomore
Hannah Uhrinek who earned another win and completed game on the season. During her time in the circle, she would allow no runs, only two hits, walk no batters, have no wild pitches or errors, and strike out eight batters.
