Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – In their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener, the Chatham University softball team split with visiting Bethany College on Monday. Chatham took game one 4-3, then fell in the nightcap 2-1.

In the first game, Bethany (5-11, 1-1 PAC) scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. In the home half of the inning, Jenn Stefano hit an RBI double, and Anne Marie Brnardic and Elizabeth Doman also recorded RBI, to give the Cougars (3-4, 1-1 PAC) a 3-2 lead. In the third inning, Elizabeth Deckelman scored on a Bethany error.

Deckelman led Chatham with two hits and two runs scored. Stefano and Ashley Lamb also recorded hits. On the mound, Brnardic threw all seven innings, allowing six hits.

Game two was scoreless until the fifth inning, when Lamb drove in Erika Martin with a single. Bethany added one run in the sixth to tie the game, then scored on a walk-off single to earn the victory.

Stefano, Lamb, Brnardic, and Leigha Pehrson each recorded hits for Chatham. Pehrson went the distance on the mound, allowing seven hits.

Chatham plays Medaille College tomorrow, April 1 in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at 3:00pm.
