Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – Chatham University pitchers combined to give up just seven hits in a doubleheader sweep of Franciscan University on Friday. Chatham won the opener 9-1 in five innings and took the nightcap 7-4.

Leigha Pehrson allowed one run and three hits for Chatham (2-3) in game one. She also collected two RBI at the plate. Chatham took a quick 5-0 lead after one inning, led by a two-RBI double by Elizabeth Doman. Chatham added one more run in the second, and two more in the third to take an 8-0 lead. Doman then capped the Chatham scoring with her third RBI of the game in the fourth inning.

Doman went 3-3 at the plate and scored two runs, to go along with her three RBI. Gina Abrego went 1-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Ashley Lamb scored two runs and had one RBI.

Heading into the bottom of the third in game two tied at one, Jenn Stefano drove in two runs with a triple to deep centerfield, and later scored on a wild pitch. Kelley Connell later drove in Anne Marie Brnardic with a single to give Chatham a 5-1 lead. Stefano and Lamb each recorded RBI in the fifth inning to give the Cougars a 7-1 advantage.

Stefano went 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBI. Doman went 2-3 and Elizabeth Deckelman went 1-3 with two runs scored. On the mound, Brnardic allowed four hits and struck out a school-record 12 Franciscan batters.

Chatham begins Presidents' Athletic Conference play tomorrow, March 29, when they host Bethany College. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1:00pm.
