Box Score 4 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - This week the Chatham University softball team opened up the 2019 season with a spring training trip down to Myrtle Beach. The Cougars finished the week 3-7 overall. Up next, Chatham takes on Franciscan on March 22nd.
The Cougars started things off with a 9-0 victory over Rivier.

Madison Howell,
Kassandra Deane and
Kelsey Benjamin each went 1-of-2 at the plate. Mulet and
Alyson Adams each recorded two runs.
Cassandra Gray and Deanne picked up two RBI a piece. Mulet, Howell and Benjamin each hit a double.
Julie Swedberg pitched all five innings. She struck out eight with only two hits allowed.
Chatham fell 9-2 to Coe.
Kelsey Benjamin was 2-of-3 at the plate.
Jenna Mulet and
Alyson Adams were the only two Cougars to cross the plate.
Madison Howell pitched 2.2 innings for the Cougars, striking out two.
Brandi Gidley pitched 3.1 innings and
Taylor Wisvari-Weir threw for one inning.
The Cougars suffered an 8-1 loss to Eastern Mennonite.

Alexis Butler each went 2-of-3 at the plate. Worwood hit a double.
Madison Howell pitched five innings, striking out two.
Chatham earned their next victory versus Rivier. The Cougars defeated Rivier 3-1.
Julie Swedberg pitched eight innings, recording seven strikeouts.
Wednesday, Chatham fell 8-0 to King's and 12-0 to William Peace.
The Cougars lost a close game to Wilkes 7-6 on Thursday.

The Cougars won their final game of spring training. Chatham defeated Gwynedd Mercy 6-4. Caitlin Wordwood went 3-of-4 at the plate, with one double and one RBI. Jenna Mullet went 2-of-3 at the plate. Kassandra Deanne hit 2-of-4, scoring two runs.
Julie Swedberg picked up two RBI, one double and one run.
Marissa Wightman added two RBI.
Madison Howell pitched all seven innings, striking out four.
