PHILADELPHIA – Chatham Men's Squash (4-7) and Women's Squash (4-8) both advanced to the semifinals of their CSA Divisional Team Championships brackets by going a combined 3-0 in their matches on Friday.
The fourth-seeded Men's team won their match over fifth-seeded Hamilton (5-10) by an 8-1 scoreline.
Sebastian Antonio Vaca Sanchez (11-3, 11-6, 11-2),
Agustin Carranza (11-9, 11-9, 11-8),
Lucas Oliveira (11-9, 11-8, 11-8) and
Muhammad Hassaan Raza (11-5, 11-5, 11-1) all swept their matches in the Cougar victory. With the win, Chatham advances to take on first-seeded Bowdoin tomorrow at 12 p.m.
The sixth-seeded Women's team defeated eleventh-seeded Bard (3-9) 5-2 before taking down third-seeded Hamilton (5-10) in the quarterfinals 5-3. The Cougars swept all the matches they played in against Bard, as
Sofia Pinto (11-4, 11-3, 11-1),
Vasundhra Vasanthan (11-1, 11-0, 11-3),
Clara Braga (11-3, 11-2, 11-1),
Isabela Campos (11-0, 11-2, 11-4), and
Ta'Niya-Marie Nored (11-5, 12-10, 11-4) all won 3-0 and Chatham defaulted in 2 matchups.
Agsinst Hamilton,
Vasundhra Vasanthan (11-2, 11-1, 11-7),
Clara Braga (11-1, 11-4, 11-3) and
Ta'Niya-Marie Nored (11-4, 11-9, 11-5) all earned sweeps for the Cougars. Chatham advances to face the winner of seventh-seeded Haverford and second-seeded Franklin and Marshall tomorrow at 9 a.m.
