Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - March 5, 2018 – The Chatham University baseball team earned its first win of the 2018 season on Monday, with a 7-2 victory over Penn College, before dropping a 12-6 decision to PSU Harrisburg.
RECORDS: Chatham moves to 1-3, Penn College is 2-2 and PSU Harrisburg improves to 5-3.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham will play PSU Greater Allegheny tomorrow at 12 pm.
GAME 1 (Chatham 7, Penn College 2): First-year righty
Ryan Shawley (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) tossed eight innings and struck out nine in his first-collegiate start.
Junior second baseman Paul Nussbaum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) and first-year catcher Tyler Dodson (Courtland, Va./Southampton) both collected two RBI apiece while Dodson and sophomore outfielder Drew Brannon (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) went 2-for-4 at the plate.
GAME 2 (PSU Harrisburg 12, Chatham 6): Despite trailing 11-0 headed to the seventh inning, the Cougars battled and plated six runs in the frame.
Senior first baseman Carmen Jansante (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Five pitchers appeared for the Cougars as sophomore righty Adam Cerar (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) suffered the loss, going five innings and striking out three.
