Cougars Fall to Yellow Jackets

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA. – APRIL 2ND, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars hosted the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg for a PAC doubleheader. The Cougars fell 7-6 and 7-2.  

The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (3-12-0) Waynesburg (6-11-1)
  • Location: Chatham's Emsworth Field
 
Game 1
  • The Cougars fell 7-2.
  • Waynesburg would score in the second, third and fourth innings before Chatham would get on the board with two runs in the sixth.
  • Marissa Wightman grounded out to second base, advancing Samantha Crilley to third and sending Brianna Clark home.
  • Madison Howell grounded out to shortstop as Samantha Crilley scored.
  • Howell went 2-3 at the plate with one double.
  • Crilley pitched for the Cougars.
 
Game 2
  • Chatham fell short of a comeback in the final inning finishing 7-6.
  • The game got off to a slow start. Waynesburg scored one run in the third inning.
  • Kassandra Petersen singled to right field, advancing Wightman home for the Cougar's first run in the fourth inning.
  • At the end of the fifth, Wightman hit into a double play but Holly Ackerman was still able to score a run.
  • With a tied score, Waynesburg would score four runs in the seventh inning.
  • Wightman started the Cougars comeback with a double down the left field line, sending Clark and Ackerman home, leaving Crilley on third.
  • Howell singled down the right field line advancing Wightman to third and running Crilley in.
  • Kassandra Deane single to right field advancing Howell and allowing Wightman to score.
  • Madison Howell pitched for Chatham.  
 
Up next
  • The Cougars will be back on the field April 4th at Bethany College for another PAC doubleheader starting at 3:30 pm.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
