Chatham Splits with W&J

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, Pa. – APRIL 13th, 2017 – The Chatham Cougars split with W&J winning the first game 2-0 and falling to the Presidents 5-4.

The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (6-21, 2-8 PAC) Thiel (10-14, 5-3 PAC)
  • Location: Brooks Park in Washington, Pa.  
 
Game 1
  • The Cougars would score their first run of the day in the second inning when Samantha Crilley singled down the right field line advancing Kassandra Petersen home.
  • Crilley would earn her second RBI of the game in the sixth inning when she singled to center field sending Petersen home once again.
  • Crilley led the team with two hits.
  • Madison Howell, Petersen, Cassandra Gray, and Kassandra Deane each tabbed one hit apiece.
  • Howell pitched all seven innings. She threw five strikeouts.
 
Game 2
  • Chatham fell to W&J 5-4.
  • The Cougars were first on the board after Katie McClelland doubled down the left field line to send Deane home.
  • In the third inning, Howell singled to right field and Clark scored.
  • The Presidents would answer back with a run of their own in that same inning.
  • Deane singled through the right side in the sixth inning advancing Tess Weaver to third and Marissa Wightman home.
  • Deane would steal second and Weaver would score off of a throwing error by the catcher.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, W&J would go on a three run scoring spree and score the winning run in the seventh inning.
  • Both Wightman and Clark hit doubles.
  • Howell pitched for Chatham once again.
 
Up next
  • The Cougars travel to Thomas More Tuesday for another PAC doubleheader.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers nine Division III women's sports and seven men's sports. Women's sports at Chatham include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track & field, and volleyball. Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
