PITTSBURGH, PA - FEBRUARY 10, 2016 - Chatham has promoted the Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach, Dylan Lasher, to the position of Head Coach. Lasher's hiring brings great hope to the program, as Coach Lasher promises a deep committment to the betterment of the team.
Dylan Lasher has been named the Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball team at Chatham. Lasher's hiring comes off a difficult 2015 season for the Cougars, as the team went 1-30 on the year. With the news of Lasher's hiring, the Head Coach was asked about his expectations for the future of the program and what he intends to bring to the Women's Volleyball team.
Lasher's attitude towards the future of the Women's Volleyball program is high, as he aims for a stronger committment and better team structure looking forward. Lasher believes that with this newfound committment to the team, that the Women's Volleyball program will thrive and become a beacon of success within the Chatham community, and city-wide.
During high school, Lasher played 4 years of volleyball at Elderton High School and Ford City High School, also playing for the PVC and PITT Elite volleyball clubs from 2008 to 2011. Lasher graduated from Thiel College in May 2015, finishing his college tenure with a B.A. in Management and Human Resources and a Minor in Coaching.
Lasher played as an Outside Hitter for the Thiel College Bobcats from 2011 to 2015, acting as the Men's Volleyball Team Captain during 2014 and 2015. Lasher's dedication to the sport of volleyball is exemplified in his committment to act as both the Men's Volleyball Team Captain and the Student Assistant Coach for the Women's Volleyball team at Thiel during 2014 and 2015.
Outside of Thiel, Lasher acted as the Assistant Club Coach for AIVA Volleyball from 2012 to 2015, as well as the Assistant Coach for the Premiere 1 Team of the PITT Elite Women's Volleyball club in 2015. Lasher landed at Chatham before the 2015 season, where he acted as Assistant Coach for the Cougars.
When asked about his favorite inspirational quote, Lasher mentioned soccer-great Pele in saying, "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, the love of what you are doing." Chatham looks forward to the future success of the Women's Volleyball program.
