Cougars to Host Titans in PAC Women's Volleyball Quarterfinal

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After clinching the #2 seed out of the South Division in the PAC Tournament, Chatham Women's Volleyball (16-8, 11-5 PAC) will match up with Westminster (19-10, 10-6), the #3 seed from the North Division, in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday night at the Athletic and Fitness Center.  In the teams' only meeting this season on Oct. 11, the Cougars came out on top 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 24-26, 15-6) in Pittsburgh.

Junior Becca Gesner led the Chatham attack in that contest, tallying 16 kills along with 3 aces and 9 digs. Defensively, senior Sierra Ricci will be a player to watch after recording 49 digs in the Cougars' first matchup against the Titans, the ninth-most for a single match in PAC history and most in 2025. First Year Delaney Schwind is also likely to play a key role for Chatham after serving up 6 aces and dishing out 30 assists previously against Westminster. The Cougars are coming off a loss to Washington & Jefferson to end the regular season, while the Titans are looking to extend their four-match win streak and have been victorious in seven of their previous eight contests.

The game's result may hinge on how well Westminster can attack, as the Titans rank third in the PAC in hitting percentage (.177) while Chatham ranks first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.102) for the season. Westminster senior Jamie Robertson sits fourth in the PAC with a .287 attacking percentage while senior Shelby Rambo has the ninth-highest percentage in the conference at .247.

Serving has been a particularly strong area for the Cougars in 2025, as they pace the PAC with 2.46 aces per set. Schwind (0.60 aces/s) and junior Vanessa Mleczko (0.57 aces/s) rank first in third in the conference in aces per set. Chatham will have the opportunity to get an advantage from the service line in this contest over the Titans, who the Cougars out-aced 15-10 in their first matchup.

The winner of the match will advance to the PAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday, either traveling to #1 North Division seed Hiram or hosting #4 South Division seed Saint Vincent.

Tonight's first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
