Cougars Defeated by Lakers

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – NOVEMBER 5th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars took on Oswego State in the second game of the weekend series. The Cougars were defeated by the Lakers 6-0.

 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (0-2-0, 0-2-0 ECAC West) Oswego State (4-0 overall, 2-0 ECAC West)
  • Location: Marano Campus Center Arena at Oswego State.

How it happened
  • The Lakers would get four unanswered goals in the first period.
  • Chatham held Oswego State to only two more goals for the rest of the game.
  • Half of the Laker goals were during power plays.
  • Sophomore Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine / North Yarmouth Academy Junior),  Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y. / Buffalo Stars) and Junior Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn. / Minnesota Blades) would each take three shots.

In the goal
  • Junior goaltender Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, ONT/Thunder Bay Queens) started for the Cougars and played just less than 15 minutes. Isbell made 10 saves.
  • First Year Tara Riley (Windsor, N.Y. / Skaneateles U19) came in for the Cougars near the end of the first period and spent the remaining 45 minutes in the net. Riley recorded 25 saves and two goals against.

Up next
  • The Cougars are back on the road next weekend when they take on Elmira College. First puck drop for the series is November 11th at 7 pm.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
