Pittsburgh, PA – Chatham Women's Hockey (3-19-2, 2-12-0) faced off against Utica (10-15-1, 7-8-0) in the season finale on Saturday. The Cougars fell just short 3-1 to the Pioneers, ending their 2025-26 season.
The Cougars fought hard and battled throughout the first period of play. They would trade early chances with the Pioneers but could not find the back of the net. The Cougars finished the frame tallying 13 shots. Late in the frame, the Cougars took a costly penalty, and with 30 seconds left in the period, the Pioneers opened the scoring, going up 1-0 as the teams entered the first intermission.
The second period saw the Cougars battle back into the game. At the 9:05 mark of the period, Klara Miuller scored her team-leading 15th goal of the season. Her career high goal marker was unassisted and tied the game 1-1. The pace picked up as both teams vied for the upper hand. At 13:15 of the period, the Pioneers solved the Cougars defense, going up 2-1. This would set the stage for a critical third period.
In the final frame, the Pioneers added onto their lead. At 17:08, the Pioneers scored at even-strength to extend the lead to two goals. The Cougars pushed late but could not find the back of the net, ending just short in their final game of the season.
Senior goaltender Sam Brophy stood tall in this one. She made 39 saves and finished the game with a .929 save percentage. Six different Cougars finished with two or more blocks to help out defensively. Ella Stearns-Sheffer led this group with a game-high 5 blocks. Klara Miuller was the lone Cougar's goal scorer and point getter, ending her season with 15 goals, the fourth most all-time in program history. Miuller's goal total ranks 5th in the UCHC, and her 20 points rank her within the top ten.
This marks the end of the 2025-26 season for Chatham Women's Hockey, returning in the fall after a strong summer of off-season training.
