Chatham Falls to Oswego State 2-1

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – NOVEMBER 4th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars opened up the 2016-17 season at Oswego State. The Cougars fell 2-1 to the Lakers.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (0-1) Oswego State (3-0 overall, 1-0 ECAC West)
  • Location: Marano Campus Center Arena at Oswego State.
 
How it happened
  • The Lakers would get the first goal at 2:11 in the first period.
  • Senior Jenny Jones (Kernersville, N.C./Anaheim Lady Ducks) put the Cougars on the board with a goal early in the second period assisted by Senior McKenzie Haskins (Anchorage, Ala./Team Alaska).
  • Oswego State answered back five minutes later with the final goal of the game.
  • Junior Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Minnesota Blades) took the team high three shots.
  • Jones, Junior Cassidy Colhoun (Kincardine, ONT/Saugeen-Mailland Lightning), and Junior Marissa Janiga would each chip in two shots a piece.
 
In the goal
  • Junior goaltender Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, ONT/Thunder Bay Queens) started for the Cougars and would play the entire three periods. Isbell recorded 28 saves.
  • Chatham would make a last stitch effort and pull the goalie in the last 39 seconds of the game but were unable to get the game tying goal.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
