Box Score 2 Pittsburgh, Pa. – (4/22/2015) – The Chatham University softball team played through the rain this afternoon, hosting the Wolverines of Grove City in a doubleheader at Varsity Field. Although the Cougars showed some great fielding, Chatham lost both games, 22-2 and 9-1. The Cougars are 2-8 at home on the season.
In the first game, first year Second Baseman
Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, MN) went 2 for 3 with two RBI's for Chatham. Junior Outfielder
Erika Bronk (Fairport, NY) went 2 for 2 with a run, and first year Outfielder
Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, NY) went 1 for 2 with a run.
Game two would see senior outfielder
Brittany Yoisten (Coldwater, ON) going 2 for 2 with an RBI, while senior Pitcher/Shortstop
Elizabeth Deckelman (Baltimore, MD) went 1 for 3. Senior Third Baseman
Gina Abrego also earned a run on her three at bats and First year catcher
Rachel Oplinger let the pine talk with two hits on three at bats.
Senior Pitcher
Leigha Pehrson (Mt. Pleasant, PA) pitched hard in 10 innings between both games, giving up 20 runs on 17 hits. She walked six after facing 28 batters in game 1 and 33 batters in game 2. Deckelman gave up 11 runs on seven hits, while walking two in the 1 inning she pitched in game one.
Chatham looks to end the season with victories, when they host Waynesburg University on Saturday, April 25 for two games against the Yellow Jackets. The games will be played at 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
