Cougars play tough at home against Saint Vincent

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Pittsburgh, Pa. – (4/16/2015) – Chatham University softball hosted the Saint Vincent College Bearcats today for a Presidents Athletic Conference doubelheader. The Cougars lost both games by scores of 8-1 and 15-3. Chatham is 0-12 in conference games this season, and 2-6 at home.
 
In the first game, first year Lyndsey Gallaway (Wooster, OH; 1B/P) went one for two at the plate, and batted in first year Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, MN; 2B) for the game's single RBI. Senior Elizabeth Deckelman (Baltimore, MD; SS/P) went one for three at the plate, while first year Rachel Oplinger (Connellsville, PA; C) went one for four.
 
In game two, The Cougars saw offense from Oplinger, who went two for four, and recorded a run for Chatham on a Petersen single. Petersen led the team with two RBIs in the second game. Deckelman went two for four at bat, while senior Brittany Yoisten (Coldwater, ON;OF/3B) went one for three, and scored two runs.
 
Leigha Pehrson (Mt. Pleasant, PA; P/1B) pitched all 11 innings of the day, facing 53 batters between both games. Deckelman relieved Pehrson on the mound in the top of the fourth inning, and gave up six runs on ten hits in three innings.
 
Chatham returns to play on Saturday, April 18 when the Cougars travel to Beaver Falls, PA for a doubleheader against PAC foe Geneva College. The games are scheduled to begin at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
