Cougars Travel to Washington & Jefferson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Washington, Pa. – (4/13/2015) – The Chatham University softball team visited Washington and Jefferson College today for continued PAC Conference play. The Cougars lost both games of the doubleheader with the Presidents 8-1 and 9-1. Chatham is 0-10 in conference games this season, and 2-4 at home. The Cougars look to bounce back on Thursday when they face rival Saint Vincent College.
 
In the first game, senior Pitcher/Shortstop Elizabeth Deckelman (Baltimore, MD) went 2 for 3, while first year catcher Rachel Oplinger went one for three, and recorded a run. First year Second Basemen Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, MN) went one for three as well for Chatham.
 
In game two, The Cougars saw offense from Oplinger, who went one for three with a walk. Deckelman went one for three with a run, while senior Third Basemen Gina Abrego went two for three with an RBI.
 
Senior Pitcher Leigha Pehrson (Mt. Pleasant, Pa) pitched hard in 10 innings between both games, giving up 17 runs on 21 hits. She walked nine and struck out one, after facing 37 batters in game 1 and 24 batters in game 2.
 
Chatham will take the field next, when they host Saint Vincent College Thursday, April 16, 2015 for two games against the Bearcats. The games will be played at 3:30 and 5:30 pm at Varsity Field.
