Box Score Utica, NY. – (2/7/2015) – The Chatham University hockey team faced Utica College again today, losing a close game 3-4. The Cougars scored three times in the second period, with two goals coming from sophomore defender
Kaitlyn Perrins (Calgary, Alberta).
First year defender
Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, MN) struck first for Chatham at (07:57) of the second period, while Chatham was on a power play. Sophomore forward
Jenny Jones (Kernersville, NC) assisted on the goal. Perrins would then make it a 2-1 game scoring at (13:11). First year defender
Emma McFarlane (Ottawa, ON) assisted on Perrin's first goal.
After Utica tied it up, Perrins would score again at (19:50), this time sophomore forward
McKenzie Haskins (Anchorage, AK) and first year forward
Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, NY) would assist her.
Chatham took 28 shots on goal today, with sophomore forward
Erika Martin (Fairbanks, AK), leading the team with five. Petersen recorded four against the Pioneers, while Janiga had three. Martin went 8 for 15 on face-offs, while sophomore forward
Jenny Jones (Kernersville, NC) went 8 for 14. The team won nearly half their face-offs, going 21 for 44 on the day.
Senior goal tender
Megan Buchanan (Stittsville, ON) lost the decision after going 28 for 32 in three periods of play. The Cougars power play units scored during the fourth and fifth of their six power play opportunities.
Chatham will be back home to face SUNY Potsdam in continued ECAC-WEST action on Friday February 13, 2015 for a 8:00 p.m. puck drop.
