PITTSBURGH, PA. - On Friday, Chatham Athletics and Vice President for Athletics and Recreation
Leonard Trevino announced the hiring of a new Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach, Alex Ochterbeck.
"Coach Ochterbeck brings a level of competitiveness and experience that will be a benefit to our program," Trevino said. Â "We are committed to the success of women's hockey and believe that Coach Ochterbeck will guide us forward."
Ochterbeck joins the Cougars from Curry College where he spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach. Ochterbeck was a part of the 2024-25 conference championship coaching staff for Curry during his first season with the team. Before his time as a coach, Ochterbeck was a player on the Curry Men's Ice Hockey team.
"Having already met some of the players, they are very passionate about the program and eager to get going in the fall." Ochterbeck said. "Coach Krauseneck returning next season will be a huge help for me as well as giving our players some familiarity. It's an exciting time for the team, and I'm looking forward to working with this group of young women. I believe everyone involved in the success of the program, players, alumni, families, coaching staff, and administration all share the same goals for the future of Chatham Women's Hockey and I can't wait to get started."
Ochterbeck will be the tenth head coach in program history and will look to have the Cougars back in the UCHC tournament after the team failed to qualify in the 2025-26 season.Â
