Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – (2/4/2015) – The Chatham University basketball team gave up an eight-point halftime lead this evening losing to Thiel College 55-53. Thiel tied the game with 53 seconds on the clock, which was followed by four missed Cougar free throws. Thiel would score twice off a Chatham foul with 14 seconds remaining, giving them a two-point lead when time expired. The loss gives Chatham a 5-15 record on the season, with a mark of 2-11 against PAC opponents.
Three Cougars finished with double-digit points against the Tomcats. Junior guard
Rachel McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) led all scorers with 12 points. Sophomore guard
Jessica Manfredi (Jefferson Hills, Pa) recorded 10 points tonight, as did senior forward
Emily Schmidt (Eighty-Four, Pa). First year guard
Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa.) helped the team by earning nine points against Thiel.
Sophomore forward
Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa) earned a team high eight rebounds, as well as three assists and one steal. Schmidt recorded a team high 10 rebounds as well as two blocks. McClain also nabbed two assists and two steals.
This evening, Chatham recorded 21 points of Tomcat turnovers. The Cougars also recorded 14 points from the bench and earned 26 points in the paint. Chatham also scored 12 second chance points.
Chatham will continue PAC conference play when they host Bethany College, Saturday February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
