Chatham University Women's Basketball and head coach
David Saur have announced the hiring of Mara Fitzgerald as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

"Her experience as a high school head coach in the DMV, along with her background coaching with one of the top travel basketball programs in the region, will be a tremendous asset to our program and student-athletes. Beyond her experience, her ability to connect with young people and serve as a mentor makes her a perfect fit for our culture. We're excited for the impact she will make immediately both on the court and in recruiting."
A Pittsburgh native and Oakland Catholic alum, Fitzgerald joins the Cougars after several successful years coaching in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Most recently, she was the head coach of the girls' varsity basketball program at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland, after previously serving six seasons as associate head coach.
During her time on staff, Bethesda-Chevy Chase captured two region championships and made the program's first-ever state championship game appearance. Fitzgerald also coached with the Potomac Valley Thunder travel basketball program, one of the top girls' basketball organizations in the DMV area, gaining extensive experience in player development, recruiting, scouting, and mentorship.
