Box Score FOX CHAPEL, PA – Stevenson University scored a pair of third period goals, leading them to a 4-2 victory over Chatham University on Saturday. Stevenson improves to 7-14-1 overall while Chatham falls to 4-14-2.
Casey Morfeld got Chatham on the board first with a goal at the 7:59 mark of the first period.
Jenny Jones and
Morgan Becer each recorded assists. Stevenson responded with two goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third.
Just 1:19 into the third,
Katrina Hawkins found the back of the net to tie the game at two.
Brianna Rice was credited with the assist on the goal. Midway through the period, Stevenson took a 3-2 lead with a Megan Alexander goal. The Mustangs added an empty net goal late in the period to cap the scoring.
Megan Buchanan made 35 saves in net for Chatham. Morfeld and Hawkins each recorded three shots, while
Kaitlyn Perrins tallied two.
These two teams play again tomorrow, February 9 at 1:00pm in the Roy McKnight Hockey Center.
