Chatham Falls to Grove City 72-58

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – Chatham University dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest against Grove City College on Wednesday, 72-58.

Emily Schmidt led the Cougars (3-17, 2-11 PAC) with 16 points on 6-11 shooting, while Anna Shashura netted 10. Jessica Manfredi scored nine. Jesse Hinkle led Chatham with seven rebounds and Elizabeth Lewis dished out four assists.

For Grove City (7-13, 5-8 PAC), Kelsey Shirey tallied 25 points, including going 10-12 from the free throw line. Kathryn Erbelding scored 16 and Mary McDonald had 14.

After a closely played first ten minutes, Grove City went ahead 20-10 with 7:18 remaining in the first half. Chatham ended the half on a 9-4 run to go into halftime down 24-19.

Chatham continued their spurt into the second half, closing the deficit to just one, 30-29, with 16:56 to play. GCC responded, though, with a 7-0 run to go back up by eight. A Hinkle jumper at the 7:08 mark brought Chatham within six, but Grove City pulled away down the stretch.

Chatham shot 20-43 (46.5%) from the field, while GCC shot 27-61 (44.3%). Chatham drained seven three pointers and held Grove City to just one.

Chatham continues PAC play on Saturday, February 8, when they travel to Westminster College. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
