Box Score CORTLAND, NY –
Jenny Jones brought Chatham within one with under a minute to play, but the Cougars could not complete the comeback in a 2-1 loss to SUNY Cortland on Friday. Chatham moves to 4-18-2 overall and 3-12-0 in ECAC-West play. Cortland improves to 3-19-2 overall and 2-12-1 in the conference.
With one game to play in the regular season, Chatham needs a win or tie tomorrow, plus help in one other conference game, to make their first playoff appearance in program history.
With Cortland leading 2-0, and an extra attacker on the ice for Chatham, Jones scored with 33 seconds remaining in the third period to make the score 2-1.
Erika Bronk and
Katrina Hawkins recorded assists on the goal. Keeping the extra attacker on, the Cougars were unable to tie the game in the final seconds.
Hawkins led Chatham with five shots, while
Morgan Becer tallied four.
Brianna Rice and
Brittany Yoisten each recorded three shots.
Megan Buchanan made 30 saves in net.
These two teams face-off again tomorrow, February 22, at 2:00pm.
