Chatham Falls to #1 Plattsburgh State 5-2

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – In their final home game of the season, the Chatham University Ice Hockey team fell to #1 Plattsburgh State 5-2 on Sunday. Chatham moves to 4-17-2 overall and 3-11-0 in ECAC-West play. The top-ranked Cardinals improve to 21-1-1 overall and 13-1-0 in the conference.

Today marked just the third time this season that Plattsburgh has allowed more than one goal in a game.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals from Bridget Balisy in the first period. At the 15:13 mark of the first, Brianna Rice found the back of the net to bring Chatham within one. Katrina Hawkins and Jenny Jones each recorded assists on Rice's goal.

Just 21 seconds into the second period, Hawkins rifled a shot from the blue line that got past Plattsburgh goaltender Cami Leonard to tie the game at two. Rice tallied the assist.

Plattsburgh scored two goals in the second period, and one more in the third, to win 5-2.

Hawkins and Rice each recorded two shots for Chatham. Plattsburgh out-shot Chatham 55-10 for the game. Megan Buchanan made 50 saves in net.

Chatham wraps up the regular season next weekend when they travel to SUNY Cortland. The teams will play Friday, February 21 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, February 22 at 2:00pm.
