Saint Vincent Pulls Away in Second Half for 90-60 Win over Chatham

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – Jesse Hinkle notched her second consecutive double-double, but Chatham University fell to visiting Saint Vincent College on Saturday, 90-60. Chatham is now 3-14 overall and 2-8 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. SVC improves to 12-5 (8-1 PAC).

Emily Schmidt led Chatham with 20 points on 10-12 shooting and also had three blocked shots. Hinkle scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She went 8-11 from the free throw line. Becky Rowe dished out four assists and had six rebounds. Jessica Manfredi led Chatham with four steals.

Five players scored in double figures for the Bearcats, led by Taylor Mathers and Ally Schmidt, who both scored 19. Drew Meeker tallied 18, while Elle Collins had 12 and Mara Benvenuti scored 10.

After a closely played first few minutes, SVC held a 29-9 lead with eight minutes to play in the first half. That lead extended to 24 at 43-19 with 4:30 remaining. The Cougars responded, though, finishing the half on a 17-5 run to close the gap at halftime to 48-36.

A layup and free throw by Hinkle at the 13:50 mark of the second half brought Chatham within nine, but Saint Vincent then went on a 23-6 spurt to pull ahead by 26.

Saint Vincent shot 38-81 (46.9%) from the floor, while Chatham shot 21-46 (45.7%). Each team made three threes. SVC scored 54 points in the paint to Chatham's 30. The Bearcats held advantages in points off turnovers (32-13) and in fast break points (31-4).

Chatham continues PAC play on Wednesday, January 29, when they travel to #5 Thomas More College for a 5:30pm tip-off.
