Third Period Comeback Gives Utica 4-3 Win Over Chatham

Box Score FOX CHAPEL, PA – Utica College scored two goals in the third period to thwart the Chatham upset bid Saturday night, as Utica won 4-3. The Pioneers, who are the leading vote-getter in the "Receiving Votes" category of the latest USCHO.com top-ten poll, move to 10-3-0 overall and 5-2-0 in ECAC-West play. Chatham falls to 3-9-2 overall and 2-5-0 in the ECAC-West.

Brianna Rice got the Cougars on the board first with a power play goal at the 7:48 mark of the first period. Katrina Hawkins and Erika Bronk were credited with the assists on the goal. Utica tied the game at one with 6:15 remaining in the first period, when Gabrielle Schnapp scored.

Schnapp gave Utica a 2-1 lead with her second goal of the game at the 8:10 mark of the second period. Bronk tied the game 12:51 into the second period with a breakaway goal. Just 1:22 later, Rice found the back of the net for a second time, with assists from Bronk and Hawkins.

Chatham held that 3-2 lead until the 10:29 mark of the third period, when Vanessa Maines scored. Utica's Megan Myers tallied the game-winner with 6:56 remaining in the game.

Kaitlyn Perrins led Chatham with four shots, while Bronk tallied three. Rice and Morgan Becer each recorded two shots. Utica out-shot Chatham for the game 32-14. In net, Megan Buchanan made 28 saves.

These two teams face off again tomorrow at 1:00pm.
