Chatham Falls to W&J 70-51

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – A 15-0 run to start the game helped propel Washington & Jefferson College to a 70-51 victory over Chatham University on Saturday. Chatham falls to 2-11 overall and 1-5 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. W&J improves to 8-5 (3-3 PAC).

After being in the 15-0 hole, Chatham went on a 22-8 run to cut the deficit to one with nine minutes left in the first half. W&J responded, though, with a 19-4 run of their own to go up 42-26 at the 3:06 mark, and went into halftime with a 49-29 advantage.

W&J held a 63-41 lead with just over 13 minutes remaining in the second half when both offenses went cold. Over the next 9:26, the teams combined for just nine points on 3-24 shooting from the floor. Chatham ended the game on a 7-1 run.

Rachel McClain led the Cougars with 13 points and four assists. She drained three of Chatham's seven three pointers. Dana Eastman also connected on three treys, scoring nine points. Jesse Hinkle scored nine and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

Valerie Dunlap led W&J with 16 points, while Beka Bellhy scored 13 and Kara Seamon tallied 11.

W&J shot 30-69 (43.5%) for the game. Chatham connected on 18-63 (28.6%) of their shots. Chatham held advantages in second chance points (13-12) and in bench points (21-17).

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, January 15, when they travel to PAC foe Bethany College for a 7:00pm tipoff.
