Box Score CANTON, NY – Katrina Hawkins recorded her second career hat trick as the Chatham University Ice Hockey team shut-out SUNY Canton, 6-0.  The win marked the biggest margin of victory for the Cougars since an 8-0 victory over Plymouth State on January 2, 2010.
 
Chatham improves to 3-7-2 overall for the season, while SUNY Canton falls to 4-10-2.  Chatham is now 1-1-1 against the Kangaroos this season, and improves to 3-2-1 on the road.
 
Hawkins got the scoring started just 1:18 into the game as she scored off an assist by Brianna Rice.  Morgan Becer made the score 2-0 when she found the back of the net with just 18 seconds remaining in the period.
 
Hawkins scored at the 8:16 mark of the second period, with assists from Brittany Yoisten and Erika Martin.  She completed the hat-trick at the 16:47 mark.  Karlee Kaufman recorded the assist on that goal; her first collegiate point.  In between those goals, Marie Soukup added her first goal of the season at the 9:08 mark.
 
Casey Morfeld capped the scoring with a goal at the 5:35 mark of the third period, with an assist from Erika Bronk.
 
Megan Buchanan notched her first NCAA shutout, stopping all 23 Canton shots.
 
Hawkins led Chatham with seven shots, while Rice tallied four.  Bronk and Morfeld each recorded three shots.  Chatham out-shot Canton 26-23 and won 30 of 54 face-offs.
 
These two teams play again tomorrow, January 11, at 2:00pm.
