Neumann Defeats Chatham, 5-1

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA- Neumann University wrapped up the weekend series with a 5-1 victory over the Chatham University Ice Hockey Team on Sunday afternoon at the Shadyside Academy Arena. The Knights outshot the Cougars 45-15 to secure the win. Neumann improves to 9-13-1 (6-8-0 ECAC West), while Chatham falls to 4-19-0 (1-15-0 ECAC West) in ECAC West play.

For the Cougar defense, goaltender Megan Buchanan (So., Ottawa, ONT/Rideau St. Lawrence) recorded 40 saves on 45 shots.

Maike Blakely (Jr., Kearney, NE/Williston Northampton) led the offense with the Cougar's lone goal.

Casey Morfeld (Jr., Union City, PA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) recorded four shots. Blakely, Erika Bronk (FY., Fairport, NY/Rochester Edge) , Katrina Hawkins (Fy., Powell River, BC/North Island Extreme) , Marie Soukup (Fr., Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) , and Morgan Becer (Jr., Ligonier, PA/Team Pittsburgh) each contributed two shots.

Shanelle Doucette, Megan Russelo, Lindsey Spatola, Edie Brenning, and Amanda Simpson each scored goals for Neumann.

The Cougars will return to action for home matchups against Liberty University on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17. Chatham will take the ice at 7:00pm on Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday.
