Box Score BUFFALO, NY – The Chatham University Ice Hockey team won a thrilling 5-4 game in overtime against Buffalo State on Saturday, moving the Cougars to 2-0 in ECAC-West play and keeping them in first place in the conference. The win marked the first sweep for Chatham since January 2010, against Oswego.
Chatham is now 2-1-1 overall, while Buffalo State falls to 0-2-0.
Brianna Rice had her second two-goal game of the weekend, and scored the game-winning goal with just 38 seconds remaining in overtime off a pass from
McKenzie Haskins.
Erika Bronk also tallied two goals, both on power plays. Chatham was 2-6 on the power play for the game.
Erika Martin gave Chatham a 2-1 advantage with only 35 seconds left in the second period with a goal off assists from
Katrina Hawkins and
Casey Morfeld. A crazy third period saw five total goals, including two from Buffalo State's Nikki Kirchberger.
Chatham out-shot the Bengals 45-18. Tara Treloar made her second start of the weekend in net, making 14 saves. Bronk led the Chatham offense with nine shots.

Erika Martin, and Rice each tallied five shots.
Kaitlyn Perrins had one assist, giving her four for the season.
Chatham will play in their home opener next weekend against non-conference opponent SUNY Canton. Game times are at 8:00pm on Friday and 1:00pm on Saturday at the Roy McKnight Hockey Center.
