Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – Chatham University made ten three pointers, including seven in the first half, but fell to visiting Allegheny College on Tuesday, 91-64. Chatham falls to 1-2 on the short season, while Allegheny improves to 3-0.
Rachel McClain connected on four treys en route to a team-high 16 points.
Becky Rowe scored nine points, all on threes.
Emily Schmidt also tallied nine points.
Jesse Hinkle led the Cougars with ten rebounds. She is now averaging 9.7 rebounds per game this season.
Emma Pellicano led Allegheny with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Marina Scarantino chipped in with 12 points.
The Gators jumped out to a quick 18-9 lead just over four minutes into the game, but a Chatham 5-0 run cut that deficit to four with 15 minutes to play. Allegheny opened up a 38-25 lead with 7:10 on the first half clock, but Chatham answered with a 9-0 run to get back within four. Allegheny ended the half on a 13-5 spurt and went into halftime with a 51-39 advantage.
A 17-2 run midway through the second half put the Gators up by 30 at 78-48, essentially sealing the game.
Chatham shot 10-26 (38.5%) from beyond the arc for the game and was 12-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line. Allegheny shot 36-80 (45.0%) from the floor.
Chatham returns to action on Saturday, November 23 when they host Marietta College at 3:00pm.
