Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA – The Chatham University Basketball team opened the 2013-2014 season with an 85-35 loss against Eastern Mennonite University at the Royals' tip-off tournament.

EMU (1-0) started the game on a 15-0 run until an Anna Shashura free throw at the 15:29 mark got the Cougars on the board. Rachel McClain sunk two free throws with 10:10 to play to pull Chatham (0-1) within 11 at 23-12. A 7-2 Chatham run over the final three minutes of the first half led to a 39-27 EMU advantage at halftime.

Jessica Manfredi sunk a layup with 17:18 to play in the second half to bring the deficit to nine at 42-33, but the Chatham offense went cold from there. For the remainder of the contest, EMU out-scored Chatham 43-2.

Manfredi led the Cougars with 11 points, while McClain added nine. Jesse Hinkle grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Bianca Ygarza led the Royals with 13 points. Chatham shot 8-12 from the free throw line for the game. Both teams were cold from three point territory, as Chatham shot 1-12 and EMU shot 2-16. EMU forced 44 Chatham turnovers while committing just 12.

Chatham will face Southern Virginia University tomorrow, November 16 at EMU. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
