Saint Vincent Knocks off Chatham, 87-55

Box Score LATROBE, PA – Four Saint Vincent players scored in double figures as the Bearcats defeated Chatham University 87-55 on Saturday. Chatham falls to 2-15 overall (1-9 PAC) while Saint Vincent improves to 12-5 (8-2 PAC). 

Taylor Ohm (So., Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) led the Cougars with 14 points, including draining all six of her free throw attempts. As a team, Chatham shot 14-20 (70.0%) from the charity stripe. Rachel McClain (Fy., Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) tallied 11 points, nine of which came via three pointers. 

Chelsea Kovalcsik (Fy., Berea, OH/Berea) grabbed seven rebounds, whileMarguerite Sargent (Sr., Washington, PA/Washington) dished out four assists. 

Ariel Rocco recorded a double-double for Saint Vincent, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Devin McGrath led the bearcats with 16 points, while Taylor Mathers scored 13 and Ally Schmidt scored 10. 

Saint Vincent started the game strong, jumping out to a 25-6 lead nine minutes into the contest. Chatham's offense found their groove though, and went on a 13-6 run to cut the deficit to 12 at 31-19. Saint Vincent went on a slight run to end the half, and went into intermission with a 40-22 advantage. 

In the second half, Chatham remained within 22 with 13 minutes on the clock, but SVC opened up a 30 point lead at the ten minute mark to seal the victory. 

Both teams connected on five three pointers. Saint Vincent held big advantages in points off turnovers (32-10) and points in the paint (48-20). 

Chatham returns to action on Wednesday, January 23, when they host #10 Thomas More College. Game time is slated for 6:00pm.
