NEW WILMINGTON, PA – A career day from Westminster forward Katie Hughes propelled the Titans past Chatham University in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, 74-49. The Cougars fall to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the PAC. Westminster improves to 3-5 overall (2-2 PAC).

Carly Zelenak (Jr. Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant) led the Chatham offense with 12 points on 5-13 shooting. She also grabbed five rebounds. Taylor Ohm (So., Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) tallied nine points and dished out a team-high four assists. Emily Schmidt (So., Eighty Four, PA/Ringgold) pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

For Westminster, Hughes scored 24 points on 10-15 shooting. Andi Ridge added 15 points and Jenna Grandy posted 12.

Westminster raced out to an early 15-4 lead, but a 6-0 Chatham run pulled the Cougars within five at the 13 minute mark of the first half. The Titans slowly increased their lead throughout the half, and a 9-2 spurt put them in front 32-14 with four minutes to play. Chatham ended the half on a 9-4 run, including five points from Ohm, to go into halftime trailing 36-23.

A three pointer from Rachel McClain (Fy., Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) at the 15:05 mark of the second half pulled Chatham within 12, but Westminster countered with a 14-3 run over the next six minutes to seal the victory.

Westminster held an advantage in free throws, going 16-21 from the charity stripe to just 6-14 shooting for Chatham. All 14 Chatham free throw attempts came in the second half.

Chatham returns to the court next Saturday, December 15, when they travel to Mt. Aloysius College for a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 4:00pm.
