WILBERFORCE, OH - Chatham men's and women's track and field teams had a strong showing at the Joshua Culbreath Invitational, on Friday.
The Chatham women's team placed 3rd out of 5 teams at the meet. With a total of 78 points.
The Cougars had two first place finishers at the invitational. Isabella Brunetto finished at the top of the podium in the 3000m event with a time 13:01.88. Emenet Richardson finished 1st in the javelin, with a score of 35.63m. The two earned 10 points each for their first place finishing, pushing the Cougars team score higher. Najiyah Smith finished strong in the high jump event, taking home 2nd place, earning 8 points for the Cougars. Sarah Yannayon finished 2nd as well in the discus event, taking home 10 points.
The women's team dominated the 800m event, with the team taking home a combined 22 points. Eliiana Borne, Isabella Brunetto, Flynn Kirvan, and Molly Green, placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th respectfully. Najiyah Smith had a productive day, finishing 4th, and 6th in the triple jump and long jump competitions. Rounding out the women's side, Emenet RIchardson and Smanatha Guerrero Mendoza finished in the top ten in the shot put.
On the men's side, the Cougars placed 4th out of 8 teams, for a total of 38 points.
Max Rollins was the lone 1st place finisher for the men's team. He was the top finisher in the long jump, earning 10 team points, with a score of 6.81 m. The Cougars collected another 10 team points in the 400 m event, with top 10 finishes from Demetrius Broadnax, Max Rollins, and Julien Collyer.
Other top finishes include a 4th place in the high jump from Seth Sager and 5th place finish in the triple jump by Brett Poles. Rounding out the men's side, Ryan Henry finished 6th in the discus.
The outdoor track and field season continues on Friday, April 24th. The Cougars travel to Meadville, PA for the Allegheny College Invitational.
