Men’s Hockey Announces Additions to Coaching Staff

Pittsburgh, PA - The Chatham University Men's Hockey program announced new additions and changes to their coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.

Joining the staff is first-year assistant coach Tristan Simm '22. He returns to Chatham following a two-year stint playing professional hockey with the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). The 2022 graduate is no stranger to Cougar hockey. As a player for the grey and purple from 2018 to 2022, Simm '22 is all over the Chatham hockey record books. He currently ranks top five all-time for points in a career, points in a season, and assists in a season. His 30 career assists rank 2nd all-time in Chatham Men's Hockey History. The Surrey, British Columbia native hopes to utilize his experience to propel the Chatham hockey program forward by developing its players.

"I'm excited to bring my playing experience from juniors, college, and professional hockey into the cougar program," Simm '22 said. "My hope is to help create a competitive, hard-working culture where players can develop both on and off the ice. I'm looking forward to giving back to the game and helping this program grow into a championship winner."

"We're excited to welcome another alum back to the Cougar family," Chatham head coach Michael Gershon explained. "His journey from student-athlete at Chatham to the pro ranks gives him a unique perspective that will be invaluable in helping our players develop and prepare for their own opportunities at the next level after graduation."

Ryan Miller '25 will also operate in a new role for the Cougars, serving as Director of Hockey Operations in the upcoming season. Previously, Miller '25 served as Hockey Operations Intern on Gershon's staff. In this role, he oversaw the video operations and assisted in day-to-day operations.

"I'm thrilled to have Ryan returning for another year after graduating last spring," Gershon commented. "During his undergraduate years at Chatham, he's been an integral part of our program, especially in leading our video operations. This season, Ryan has earned a well-deserved promotion to Director of Hockey Operations, where he will continue to oversee video while also taking on expanded coaching and operations responsibilities.
