Men's and Women's Hockey Have 25 Named All-American Scholars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) released their annual list of All-American Scholars. Among the 1,123 total players honored across Division II/III, 664 men and 459 women, the Cougars men's and women's hockey teams had 25 total players honored. The Cougars men's team had 13 players honored while the women's team had 12.

In order to be recognized, a student-athlete needed to hold a 3.75 GPA in both the fall and spring semesters while appearing in 40% of their teams games. There were waivers for backup goalies and injured players.

The student-athletes recognized on the men's team were first year forward Dylan Young, sophomore forwards Nick Babbie, Milan Cermak, Kyle Contessa, Brendan Merriman and Michael Roby, sophomore goalies Louis Finnegan and Cameron Kuntar, junior forward Bekk McClaine, junior defender True Crowe, senior forward Evan Mitchell, senior defender Zack Conner, and senior goalie Thompson Phinney.

The women's student-athletes who made the list were first year goalie Sally Sweeney, first year defender Emery Gelinas, sophomore forwards Morgan Black and Yana Samouilidis, sophomore defenders Abbigail Cunkelman, Kylie Shannon and Ella Scheffer, junior forwards Chelsea Clark and Olivia McTavish, junior defender Payton Lloyd, senior forward Rainey Jessup, and senior defender Sam Barrett.
