Hueber, Comport Headline as Cougars Land Five All-Conference Players

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released their yearly awards for the Women's Lacrosse season. On Monday, the conference also released their All-Tournament Team. The Cougars were well represented in both.

Cougars outstanding first year, Tessa Hueber was named the PAC Newcomer of the Year, was a 2nd Team All-Conference Attack and was named to the PAC All-Tournament Team. Hueber was awarded with three newcomer of the week awards throughout this season where she tied for the team lead in goals with 54 and assisted on 23 for a team high 77 points. She also had a team high 80 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers.

Cougars head coach, Morgan Comport was named the PAC Coach of the Year following the Cougars record breaking 11-7 season with a 7-2 PAC record. In her third season as head coach, Comport led her team to their first PAC Championship game and set multiple other records along the way.

Cougars graduate attack, Bailey Donofrio was named All-PAC 1st Team for the first time in her career. Donofrio had previously been named to the All-PAC 2nd Team in 2021 and 2022. She was also an All-PAC Honorable mention in 2023 and 2024. Donofrio had an outstanding season for the Cougars, tying for the team lead in goals with 54 including four game winners and assisted on eight other goals for a season total of 62 points. Donofrio set her single season high in goals and game winners while tying her season high in assists.

Cougars senior midfielder, Sam Beall-Dennell was named to the All-PAC 2nd Team for the second time, 2022, in her illustrious career in the purple and gray. She was also previously named to the All-PAC 1st Team in 2023 and 2024. She was also named to the PAC All-Tournament Team for the second time in her career. She was previously given the honor in 2024. Beall-Dennell scored 30 goals this season while setting a program single season record with 28 assists. She also broke the career record for assists this season. The senior also led the Cougars in ground balls, 46, and caused turnovers, 24, and was second in draw controls with 69.

Cougars senior midfielder, Erin Goodwin was named to the All-PAC 2nd Team for the second time in her career, 2023, after an outstanding season that saw her score 38 goals and assist on 25 more. That gave her a season total of 63 points. This was her highest season total in points and assists. Goodwin also had 34 ground balls and 41 draw controls.

Cougars senior defender, Avery Redd was named to the All-PAC 2nd Team for the second time in her career, previously in 2024. Redd had 39 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers this season, anchoring one of the PAC's best defenses. 

Cougars sophomore goalie, Meghan Cuza-Berry was named to the PAC All-Tournament Team after the Cougars Championship Game run. In the postseason, Cuza-Berry made 27 saves, nine in each game, and had a 47.4% save rate for the Cougars.

The Cougars also rewrote the program's record books this season and had many player reach important milestones. 

The Cougars set a new program record in both overall wins and conference wins. They ended the season with 11 wins and seven of them were in conference. Both of those marks were set in the 2023 and 2024 season where the Cougars had 10 wins and six in conference. In the Cougars 18-8 PAC Quarter Final victory over Allegheny, the Cougars tied the program record of 14 assists in a game, set in their 21-1 victory over Waynesburg on April 15th, 2024. They also set season long records in goals (231), assists (119), points (350) and draw controls (258). All of these records were held by the 2023 team who had 220 goals, 119 assists, 350 points and 251 draw controls. The Cougars four game win streaks that they had twice this season are the fifth and sixth times they have had a four game win streak, the longest in program history.

The records did not stop at the team level as Sam Beall-Dennell and Meghan Cuza-Berry both found their way into the record books this season while Erin Goodwin and Bailey Donofrio both reached important milestones

Sam Beall-Dennell ended the season as the leader for assists with 28 which is the new record for assists in a single season. She also broke the career assist record which was 51 held by Brielle Rapsas who ended her career in 2022. Beall-Dennell ends her career with 69. She also extended upon her career records in goals, total points, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. She ended her outstanding career with 131 goals, 200 points, 232 ground balls, 99 caused turnovers and 336 draw controls. She recorded her 200th ground ball, 300th draw control, 50th assist, 150th point and 200th point this season.

Meghan Cuza-Berry ended her sophomore season with 145 saves giving her a career total of 278 which broke the previous career record of 256 held by Aria Diethrich who ended her career in 2022. Cuza-Berry also recorded her 200th career save this season.

Despite finishing second on the team in assists this season with 25, Erin Goodwin was one of two Cougars to break the single season assist record of 24 set by Selena Justus in 2023. She also recorded her 100th goal and 100th point this season. Goodwin ended her electric career with 107 goals and 41 assists for 148 career points.

Bailey Donofrio ended her amazing Cougars career by breaking the 100 point and 100 goal marks in her final season. She ended her career with 131 goals and 25 assists for 156 points.
