Women's Lacrosse Season Recap

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Cougars wrapped up their ninth Women's Lacrosse season with a final record of 13-4, 8-1 PAC, and a second straight berth in the PAC Championship Game. The Cougars set a host of new records both on an individual basis and as a team. 

The Cougars set three single game records. The team recorded 17 assists and 42 points in their win over Thiel, both setting new single game highs. Campbell Murphy had four assists and seven points in the game, pacing the team in each category. They also recorded 30 caused turnovers in their game against Hiram, the most in any game in program history. Marcella Valentine and Izzy Davanti recorded four caused turnovers each to lead the Cougars.

The Cougars set new single season records with 13 wins and a .765 winning percentage. The Team scored 244 goals, led by Bella Walski-Rodriguez's 52, setting a new single season record. The Cougars also assisted on more goals this season than any previous season in program history with 130, led by Murphy's 23. That means that the Cougars also set a new single season record in points scored with 374, Walski-Rodriguez led all Cougars with 67. Offense was not the only area the Cougars were historically good at, they also set a new single season ground ball record with 471, Valentine led all Cougars with 55. There were also more caused turnovers by the Cougars this season than there were in any previous season. The Cougars recorded 253 caused turnovers, breaking the old record by over 100. The Cougars were led by Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman who recorded 49. The Cougars also records in the winning streak department. The Cougars recorded seven consecutive wins from April 4th - April 30th. The Cougars had five consecutive home wins, dating back to last season, from April 9th, 2025 - March 21st, 2026.

The Cougars also had individual players set new records. Murphy recorded a new single game record with seven caused turnovers in the Cougars win at Allegheny. The single season caused turnover record was also broken this season, the previous record of 32 caused turnovers was broken by two different Cougars this season. Valentine recorded 33, which would have been the single season record except that Hoetzlein-Sirman recorded 49 this season, more than any lacrosse player at Chatham in any season. Meghan Cuza-Berry entered her junior season already holding the career saves record and just added to it, now sitting at 350 career saves.
