Aurielle Brunner completed day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute. Day one for Brunner featured the first four events of the women's heptathlon and the women's long jump.
Brunner finished as the national runner-up in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 6.07 meters, making her an eight-time All-American in her track & field career. This ties her highest finish in any event at the NCAA Championships as she also finished second nationally in the long jump at this year's Indoor Championship meet.
For the heptathlon, Brunner took fourth in the 200-meter (25.10 seconds), ninth in the high jump (1.6 meters), 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.23 seconds) and 16th in the shot put (9.78 meters) among the field of 22 athletes. She currently sits at 2,940 points, good for eighth place.
Tomorrow, Brunner will finish the heptathlon with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter. She will also compete in the triple jump on Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
