Brunner Takes 5th in Heptathlon at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – On Friday, Chatham senior Aurielle Brunner completed day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute, where she competed in the final three events of the heptathlon.

Brunner finished fifth in the event with 4,911 points, marking her second All-America finish of the weekend and the ninth of her career.

On Friday, she added to yesterday's total with a first-place finish in the long jump, a 13th place finish in the javelin throw, which featured a personal best toss of 29.18 meters, and a 15th place finish in the 800-meter.

Overall for the heptathlon, Brunner finished first in the long jump (6.02 meters), fourth in the 200-meter (25.10 seconds), ninth in the high jump (1.6 meters), 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.23 seconds), 13th in the javelin throw (29.18 meters), 15th in the 800-meter (2:33.15) and 16th in the shot put (9.78 meters).

Tomorrow, Brunner will look to collect more hardware as she wraps up her time in Ohio with the triple jump at 1:45 p.m.
