PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 29, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse wrapped up the regular season Saturday with a 17-8 victory over the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The Cougars finish the regular season 10-4 overall and 6-3 in conference and will continue on to the PAC Tournament.
The Cougars scored six goals in the first quarter, including two from first year attacker
Danielle MacConnell, and held a 6-4 lead after the back and fourth period. Chatham scored three times in the first 3:06 of the second quarter, including twice from sophomore midfielder
Erin Goodwin, to take a 9-5 lead. Goodwin scored again later in the quarter to help the Cougars take an 11-6 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the Chatham defense stood tall, not allowing a single Bearcat goal as the Cougars increased their lead to 13-6. That lead ballooned to 10 goals when Goodwin netted her fifth marker of the game. MacConnell completed her hat trick with 1:01 left to play to put the icing on the cake.
Goodwin ended the game with six points on five goals and an assist. She added four draw controls and three ground balls. MacConnell and senior attacker
Phallon Kilduff each recorded three goals in the win. With 11 draw controls in the game, Junior midfielder
Sam Beall-Dennell set Chatham's new career draw control record at 161 in just 27 career games. She has tallied 109 draw controls this season.
Shots on goal were 32-23 in favor of the Cougars and Chatham won the draw control battle 16-13.
Women's Lacrosse will play host to a PAC Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
