GREENVILLE, Pa. - April 1, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse won its third game in a row with a 20-10 victory over the Thiel Tomcats on the road Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Cougars to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.
Senior attacker
Selena Justus tallied her 17th assist of the season in the fourth quarter to set a new Chatham single-season record. The record was previously held by attacker
Brielle Rapsas, who recorded 16 assists in both 2021 and 2022.
The Tomcats scored the first two goals of the contest, but the Cougars rebounded to win the first quarter 8-4 thanks in part to three goals from Justus and two from junior midfielder
Sam Beall-Dennell. Beall-Dennell tacked on two more in the second period to help Chatham enter halftime with a 12-6 advantage. Then, the Cougars pulled away for good in the third quarter, with four unanswered goals.
Sophomore midfielder
Erin Goodwin finished the game with eight points on six goals and two assists. Beall-Dennell had eight points with four goals and four assists and added with five draw controls with three caused turnovers. Justus scored six goals to go along with her record-breaking assist.
Shots on goal were 24-22 in favor of the Cougars and Chatham narrowly won draw controls 17-16.
