CRESSON, Pa. - March 9, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse defeated the Mount Aloysius Mounties on the road 16-4 Thursday evening. With the win, the Cougars improve to 3-0, marking the best start in program history.
The Mounties struck first, but the Cougars rebounded to score the next 11 goals and dominate the contest. Junior midfielder
Sam Beall-Dennell notched a hat trick in the first quarter alone and added another tally in the second. Mount Aloysius scored two in the third quarter, but the Chatham offensive kept piling on, with three goals in each of the final two quarters.
Beall-Dennell finished the game with a career-high six goals and added four draw controls and three ground balls. Senior attacker
Selena Justus put up five points with two goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder and reigning PAC Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Goodwin had a goal and a pair of assists to go along with a game-high 11 draw controls. Goodwin leads Chatham with 19 draw controls on the season. On the defensive end, freshman
Becca Baker secured four ground balls and caused two turnovers. In net, freshman
Audrey Mason earned the win with three saves on six shots faced in 45 minutes. Sophomore
Samantha Barrett played the fourth quarter in net for the Cougars.
Chatham tallied 26 shots on goals to just nine for Mount Aloysius. The Mounties committed 24 turnovers and the Cougars won draw controls 16-8.
Women's Lacrosse's next match is scheduled for March 18 against Marietta for the home opener at UPMC Graham Field.
