THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - March 4, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse earned a 16-11 road win over California Lutheran Saturday afternoon. The Cougars are now 2-0 to start the season for the second time in program history.
Chatham scored the first five goals of the contest, including two from junior midfielder
Sam Beall-Dennell. The Regals tallied their first goal of the game to make it 5-1 with 12:13 left in the second quarter, but sophomore midfielder
Erin Goodwin responded with two goals in a span of 1:48 to give the Cougars a 7-1 advantage. Three straight goals from Cal Lutheran made it 7-4 heading into half.
In the third quarter, the Cougars put five on the board, with one from Goodwin and two from senior attack
Phallon Kilduff to give them each hat tricks. The Regals scored six goals in the final quarter, but the Cougars maintain the game as Goodwin and Kilduff each tallied another score.
Goodwin scored four goals for her first career hat trick and added two assists to lead the team with six points. Goodwin also led the team with three caused turnovers. KIlduff scored four of her own and tallied two ground balls. Senior midfielder
Bailey Donofrio netted three goals on eight shots and Beall-Dennell led the team with four ground balls.
Goalies
Samantha Barrett and
Audrey Mason split time in net with Mason playing the first half and Barrett starting the second. The duo combined for eight saves on 19 shots faced.
Chatham registered 30 shots on goal to Cal Lutheran's 19. The Cougars took 11 free position shots and scored on four of them.
Women's Lacrosse returns to action on the road in Pennsylvania against Mount Aloysius on Thurday.
