PITTSBURGH, Pa. - March 28, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse earned a 23-3 victory over visiting Waynesburg in the PAC Opener on Tuesday night. The Cougars are now 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
The Cougars scored twice in the opening 37 seconds and never looked back, with 10 goals in the first quarter and another five in the second to take a 15-2 lead into half.
The domination did not slow down as Chatham won the second half 8-1.
Senior attackers
Selena Justus and
Phallon Kilduff each had seven points on the day with five goals and two assists apiece. Junior midfielder
Felicia Hutter scored five goals of her own and added an assist. Junior midfielder
Sam Beall-Dennell had four assists and led the team with nine draw controls.
23 goals is the most the Cougars have scored in a game since 3/21/21 when they scored 25, also at home against Waynesburg. Chatham also tied the team's single game assist record with 13 assists in the contest.
Chatham took 30 shots on goal compared to just seven for Waynesburg. Draw controls were 24-5 in favor of the Cougars and Chatham caused 13 turnovers.
Women's Lacrosse will look to build off the strong showing when they return to action Saturday at Thiel.
