PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 13, 2023 - Chatham University's Head Softball Coach Deanna Tritinger has announced the addition of alumna Lauren McNany to her coaching staff for the 2023 season.
McNany, an Emlenton, Pennsylvania native, played two seasons with the Cougars as a graduate student after an industrious academic and athletic career at Westminster College.
As a Cougar, McNany posted a .325 batting average in 197 at bats, recording 64 hits and driving in 30 runs. Of her 64 hits, 17 were doubles, and she also recorded a triple and an home run.
In the field, McNany's main trade was shortstop, at which she recorded 103 putouts and 130 assists for a .921 fielding percentage in her two seasons.
Her overall career stats include 101 career hits, a .289 batting average, and stats in at least one collegiate inning at every position on the field.
Prior to Chatham, she graduated from Westminster College in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry while playing for the Titans. At Westminster, she received multiple awards, including second-team PAC All-Conference and the Marjorie A. Walker Award, and competed in the PAC Championship Tournament every season. She would earn two more PAC All-Conference awards once joining the Cougars.
She then earned her Master's in Biomedical Science in 2021 and is finishing her Master's in Business Administration in 2023 here at Chatham.
McNany has also previously been a volunteer coach for both the Allegheny-Clarion (A-C) Valley Little League and A-C Valley High School.
McNany will make her coaching debut with the Cougars later this month as the team travels to Winter Haven, Florida to compete in the Spring Games.
