Softball Swept by Wolverines on the Road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GROVE CITY, Pa. - April 28, 2022 - Chatham Softball traveled to Grove City College this afternoon for a PAC matchup against the Wolverines. Grove City would take a close game one by a score of 5-4 before winning game two 7-3.

Game one was a back and forth scoreboard battle throughout. Sophomore Mackenzie Dunn would smack an RBI triple in the first to give the Cougars the lead, followed by an RBI ground out from junior Kaitlyn Collins.

Grove City, unfortunately, would not led the lead last. The Wolverines would score three runs in the bottom of the first, maintaining the one-run lead until the sixth inning. An RBI from junior Justine Boyle would tie the game in the sixth, and the Cougars would pull ahead in the seventh thanks to an outfield RBI from junior Danaya Carbajal.

Grove City would take advantage of batting last, scoring the tying and winning runs to end the game in regular innings.

Game two started with another Mackenzie Dunn triple, scoring graduate student Lauren McNany. Dunn herself would score on a sacrifice fly provided by junior Lauren Haak shortly after.

The Cougars would score their third and final run of game two in the third inning. Lauren Haak would drive in yet another run, this time with a triple.

On the mound, Mackenzie Dunn and senior Emily Nay combined for five strikeouts.

Chatham returns home for their senior day celebration on Saturday, April 30th when they host Westminster in their final regular season double header.
