MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – April 28, 2022 – It was a glorious evening for the Chatham University track and field teams. First-year
Aurielle Brunner and graduate
Alexia Page-Boyd broke Chatham and PAC Championship records in the triple jump and discus throws, respectively, taking home gold in those events.
Brunner's head-turning day came in the opening moments of the event. Her first jump was .08 meters short of the school record, set by her first-year head coach
Eden Bloom. Then, her second jump made history. It not only shattered Bloom's record, but Brunner set the PAC Championship record by .23 meters, clocking in at an incredible 11.79 meters.
Page-Boyd had a steeper hill to climb in terms of competition, but four of her five recorded tosses traveled over 40 meters. The rest of the 27-person field one toss of over 40 meters. Her best distance was 42.09 meters, a new record.
Elsewhere, senior
Rebecca Pennington crossed the tape in the 10,000-meter run in fourth place, finishing at 40:20.05. Brunner qualified for the 100-meter dash preliminaries. Leading the way in the long-distanced 10,000-meter run was first-year
Benjamin Brown with a 36:53.32 final time.
After day one, the women are in second place with 25 points. The Cougars will look to carry this momentum over into day two, with the events beginning tomorrow at 2:00 from Mylan Park at West Virginia University.
